IPS maps transactions to a 3-digit Channel Code in the message header. This enables the switch to apply custom fee profiles, risk parameters, and limits depending on the transaction origination.
It supports verification of multiple payment instruments. The Primary Account Number (PAN) field dynamically routes to cards, wallet structures, or raw checking accounts utilizing the member routing BIN.
IPS acts as the master coordinator for the network. It enforces a daily business date cutover. The switch sends a Cutover message (0800) to each slave member bank, forcing them to close current-day logs and begin processing for the next day, keeping the ecosystem in perfect sync.
Continuous network health checks are managed via Logon (0800) and periodic Echo messages. If connection drops, the member receives a timeout. The system automatically retries or signs off, notifying administration instantly.

The IPS switch implements a zero-trust cryptographic model. Full MAC verification is mandatory for all members. ZAK keys are generated dynamically by participating banks and shared securely with IPS using NMM key exchange requests.
If MAC generation or validation fails at any point in the flow, the message is instantly dropped, and a 7200 or 7210 reject code is dispatched to prevent fraudulent interception.
Robust handling of network disconnects to guarantee transaction state consistency
IPS does not support traditional request reversals. If a timeout occurs between the remitter bank, IPS, or the beneficiary bank, a strict **Verification Request (Processing Code 910000)** must be initiated to resolve transaction state:
Remitter sends 0200 request but connectivity drops before receiving response from IPS.
Remitter bank triggers Verification Request (910000) instead of a reversal to check original status.
If beneficiary indicates customer was credited, response '00' is returned. Transaction stands.
If beneficiary was not credited, 'M0' is returned. Remitter reverses the local debit leg safely.
